Politie Limburg-LION

Develop a system for measuring and monitoring the social effects of interventions in the fight against subversive crime as part of the LION project, with the goal of reducing criminal networks, disrupting criminal activities, and increasing public trust and awareness in Limburg and the EU-region.

The Project

The Project

We realise that Limburg’s current way of dealing with the problems of “undermining/subversive crime” needs improvement. Therefore, we are starting project LION in which Politie Limburg partners up with Provincie Limburg, RIEC Limburg, PVO and ACT. Together we would like to start building one image (what is happening in Limburg and the EU-region in regard to subversive crime), one judgement (what do we think we need to do about this) and one place for decision making (what do we decide to do about this).

In project LION we aim for interventions with high social impact on different levels.

  • Reducing criminal networks
  • Breaking criminal careers
  • Disrupting criminal revenue
  • Reducing attraction on minors
  • Increasing visibility and trust in government
  • Raising awareness on the impact over subversive crime
  • Strengthening weak organisations and logistic hubs

The police has started this initiative but we would like this to be something that is successful for all stakeholders in the domain of public safety and crime prevention. If this pilot is successful, it will get follow up in the rest of Limburg and on a national level, so all eyes are on us!

The problem is that we do not know how to measure, monitor and show the overall effect and impact of our interventions. We need a pro-active and hands-on PREMIUM team to help us succeed.

Design-oriented

In this project, the focus is on “creating something new”

The Client

The Client

Politie Limburg, department of undermining
The mission of the Dutch National Police is: vigilant and subservient to the values of the rule of law. This mission is fulfilled by the police by providing solicited and unsolicited protection, limitation, or validation, depending on the situation.

Our aim is to fight organised crime and prevent its consequences for our society (economy, environment, politics etc.) The topic of ‘Ondermijning’, and the way we need to increase better cooperation between public and private stakeholders, is a major priority!

Formal Client

This client provides an assignment and perceives the team of students as consultants doing a job for them. The formal client provides guidance and supports the team with feedback, but is not actively involved in project execution.
