EcoAct, an international climate consultancy and project developer, is dedicated to empowering businesses and organizations to achieve their climate goals. We facilitate the delivery of sustainable business solutions for a low carbon world, covering a variety of related services from carbon footprints to support with climate and sustainability policies.
Our belief is that climate action and commercial viability go hand in hand, which is reinforced by recent policies like those that are part of the EU Sustainable Finance Strategy. Recent policies, especially the EU Sustainable Finance Strategy, have significantly strengthened the link between these dimensions. For instance, the CSRD strives to align ESG and financial reporting and to bring them to the same level of importance. However, we have yet to explore how these dimensions mutually influence each other in practice. Publishing a study demonstrating the financial benefits of climate and sustainability action would be very valuable in showcasing to clients the tangible returns of such initiatives.
Therefore, to better convey these benefits to our clients, we aim to delve deeper into the advantageous link between sustainability and financial performance.
Therefore, we are planning during this project to undertake a study that focuses on the financial benefits of climate and sustainability actions, aiming to evaluate the business viability of climate and nature action, focusing on sustainable finance policies like CSRD, EU Taxonomy and TPT. Students will research the current financial impacts of these policies, the relevance of companies’ ESG performance, and explore future expectations. Additionally, we’ll examine change management aspects and study case examples of companies that have successfully undergone sustainable transformations. This holistic approach will provide valuable insights into the commercial advantages of climate action.
Throughout this project, students will collaborate with our marketing team and also engage with experts from areas such as compliance or sustainable finance to take advantage of their expertise. Once the content of the study is completed, we will take care of the design. The final report is intended to be published on our website, with acknowledgment given to the students and Maastricht University.
