Welcony

Conduct a market and regulatory analysis (AI, MDR, CSRD, trade agreements, competitor innovations) to guide product development and release.

The Project

The Project

The field of MedTech is growing at a rapid pace, with advances in technology showing huge promise for patient care and treatment outcomes. Especially in Neuroscience, where non-invasive and precision neuromodulation such as high-density EEG and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) are becoming more precise, powerful, and widely accessible. Welcony is a leading healthcare technology company that unites four distinguished brands: Magstim, which develops magnetic devices; EGI, which develops high-density EEG devices; Technomed, which develops disposable clinical neurophysiology electrodes and probes; and Neurosign, which develops tools for intraoperative nerve monitoring.

In the fast-paced field of medical technologies, cutting-edge innovation and the increasing implementation of AI technologies make understanding the dynamic market critical for company success. To stay relevant, product management must have an understanding of how medical device and environmental regulations such as MDR and CSRD, geopolitical interactions such as trade agreements and tariffs, competitor product releases, and more impact product development and product releases.

Therefore, in this project we ask students to research how MedTech can keep its market position by analyzing competitor product releases, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and the EU Medical Device Regulation (EU MDR); and how global trade agreements and tariffs will impact product development and release at our company. We provide the opportunity to engage with a fast-paced international company in the midst of several large product launches and to dive into the world of medical technologies for widespread neuroscience applications both in research and in healthcare.
