At REScoop Limburg, the alliance of 26 independent energy cooperatives, we believe that the transition to clean energy should not only reduce CO₂ emissions but also empower people and strengthen local economies. By keeping energy production and profits close to home, our cooperatives ensure that Limburg’s residents—not large corporations—benefit directly from the energy transition.
Now, we want to take the next step: understanding and visualizing our real impact. That’s where you come in!
We are therefore asking you to develop a tool to measure our impact of regional value creation: We would like you to develop a model to visualize how much economic, social, and ecological value cooperative energy projects in Limburg generate (e.g., citizen involvement, CO₂ reduction, local spending). Think beyond energy production: how do solar fields, wind parks, and rooftop installations improve local well-being, foster citizen engagement, or stimulate regional spending?
Your challenge will be to translate complex sustainability data into clear, engaging insights and develop a model that can be used by policymakers, municipalities, and cooperatives alike. The tool will help us create guidelines to prioritize the greatest net benefit for society, be transparent about our impact towards our citizens and accelerate innovation by being able to focus on successful models.
The outcome of your work will directly influence how Limburg shapes its energy transition, guiding regional innovation and strengthening trust in cooperative initiatives.
