Student-Meets

Student-Meets

Do you care about education? Do you enjoy studying at Maastricht University? Are you interested in innovating the education at UM? Then join EDLAB’s Student-Meets and leave your mark at Maastricht University.

A Student-Meet is an informal and a low-key gathering open for all students of UM faculties. EDLAB is interested in bringing students from all different academic years together to share experiences and chat about education at UM. EDLAB organizes five Student-Meets per academic year. Every event focuses on a different theme, all with the aim of innovating education. There are no-strings attached when visiting a Student-Meet (you are thus very welcome, yet not obliged, to visit all five meetings and there is no mandatory preparation before the event).

Next Student-Meet: Preparing for exam-week

The sentence exam week is coming may give many of us similar shivers and knots in the gut as when Ned Stark famously declared that winter is coming in the very first episode of Game of Thrones:

Your tutor wants a paper outline tomorrow and you don’t even know how to choose a suitable essay topic yet. And the multiple-choice exam you are supposed to study for seems to be full of trick questions. How do you even study for that? At this point the 3 a.m. exam week nervous breakdown is inevitable – you’d only need some White Walkers to make the disaster complete.

But do not despair, because EDLAB’s got your back! Together with the Maastricht Leert – Skill Sharing Community, we devised a Student-Meet focused on peer-to-peer exchange on how to best prepare for exams and papers. We organised two panels of seasoned students and alumni from different faculties who will share their tips on writing an essay or studying for an exam and will be there to answer any of your questions.

Join us to hear your peers and some experts share their best strategies for writing and studying. Come to alleviate some of the pre-exam-week stress, or simply to get to know some students from other faculties or to enjoy pizza from Piano B’s delicious pizza (vegan options available) and free drinks.

The student panels will be hosted simultaneously at the EDLAB building (Tapijn X) from 18.00 till 19.00. The panel focused on “Exam Prep” will take place in the Serre. The student panel discussing “Essay Tips” will gather in the EDLAB Common Room. In order to know how many people to expect (and how much pizza to order), please sign up below!
