Orchestrating Feedback, Online and Offline
Description workshop
With Canvas and COVID, we have gained access to more online educational tools for feedback, both from teacher to student and between student peers. Sometimes these tools provide additional features that become valuable to the teaching process; sometimes, they create unforeseen glitches. This session aims to facilitate sharing problems and practices for designing feedback learning activities. Participants will be asked to share details about their specific course(s) purposes and strategies for using feedback and discuss successes and problems in using different tools – both online and offline. This workshop is intended to consider alternative approaches to problems involving educational technology.
Participants will need to share a problem they want to discuss during the workshop. Participants will need to complete a short form to describe that ahead of the session. This should not take more than 30 minutes maximum.
About the trainer
Lauren Wagner is Associate Professor in Diasporic Mobilities at FASoS. She has been involved in several education development projects with the SURF foundation, EDLAB and the Diversity & Inclusivity office at UM. When it comes to technology, she has always been an ‘early adopter’ keen to press all the buttons to see how it works.
A note about the costs
EDLAB is currently offering all CPD activities free of charge. Please note however that we have paid to develop and offer this session together with the trainers, so if you sign up but cannot attend, we would greatly appreciate it if you could give us at least 5 days’ notice so that we can advertise your spot to others who may be interested. Cancellation without at least 5 days’ notice or failure to show up may result in your department being charged the full cost price.
EDLAB reserves the right to postpone this event should a minimum of 6 participants not be reached.
