CPD Workshop: Coaching Skills (in Dutch)
6 November 2024
This workshop is designed to train mentors, coaches and tutors on coaching and mentoring skills. Participants are staff in a mentoring or coaching role, e.g. in bachelor, master or honours programmes. In this workshop, we will explore the main differences between teaching, mentoring and coaching. We will take stock of the main competencies and skills used in coaching and explore a coaching model. But first and foremost, you will get room to practice your coaching skills with real-life examples of situations that matter to you.
At the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
- Identify the differences between teaching, coaching and mentoring, and discuss the skills that are needed in coaching and mentoring
- Explain the context of your coaching/mentoring and manage the student’s expectations
- Discuss the main differences amongst the most common coaching models
- Apply at least one coaching model in practice
This workshop includes preparatory homework. You can register using the sign-up sheets provided below.
About the trainers
In these challenging times, student mental health has never been more important. Students might not always have the required skills yet to overcome the challenges they are faced with. Therefore the UM Psychologists and the UM Wellbeing Movement strive to make students more resilient and provide them with sufficient means to acquire skills that promote wellbeing during their studies and further in their professional career and life. At UM, there are many initiatives, programmes and plans that can contribute to student wellbeing and at the end of this workshop we will provide you with an introduction and overview of these ventures. Already interested? A broad range of (online) lectures, workshops and training sessions have been developed for students to develop themselves personally and professionally.
