BoE: A new UM vision on assessment: BoE members

A session for BoE members:  A new UM vision on assessment – what it means in practice

Due to popular demand, we are offering this session a second time for BoE members who could not make the previous date.

Description

In the last two years, UM has developed a new UM vision on assessment that outlines an ambition for creating more meaningful assessment that, like learning, is constructive, collaborative, contextual and self-directed, and is coordinated at a programme level.  On behalf of EDLAB and the UM taskforce for the UM vision on assessment, we would like to invite BoE members to find out more about the UM vision on assessment.  In this session, we will introduce the background and foundation for the UM vision on assessment, the process taken to develop it and (best) practice examples in UM programmes.  We will also discuss how the UM vision on assessment relates to the task and responsibilities of the BoE, and how the BoE can safeguard assessment quality.

Achieving the aims outlined in the UM vision on assessment could involve changes to assessment programmes in pre-existing degree programmes (e.g. in longitudinal trajectories of teaching activities and aligning assessment) or a curriculum redesign to fully align education and assessment (with the model of programmatic assessment as an example).  In this session, we will present examples, will respond to your questions and would also like to gather feedback from you as to what extra support you would need (for BoE members or teaching staff), in the implementation of the UM vision on assessment.

This session will be led by Sylvia Heeneman with support from Cees van der Vleuten.
