‘University Library 2030’
Do you love to combine creative and logical thinking? Interested in learning and education? In diversity and inclusion? Do you care for our future by using sustainable and circular methods? Do you like tangible results? Then take this unique chance to create a completely new, futuristic University Library in Maastricht.
This interdisciplinary project is a collaboration between the University and the firm Eromesmarko. Eromesmarko is a reputable and dynamic company in developing, designing and implementing education spaces. The University Library is one of the most visited locations of Maastricht University. The UL provides more than 3,000 workplaces for 22,000 students, and it’s still growing.
That’s why, in this project, you’ll investigate students’ desires for the future UL facilities. Obviously, you must take into account the UM-policy on diversity, inclusivity and accessibility, and broader priorities like sustainability and digitalisation. In the end, you’ll draw up a plan for UM’s ‘University Library 2030’.
In this project you’ll gain experience in project management and -participation, observing, interviewing, design, co-creating, developing ideas into realistic plans, and many other skills you’ll need in your future career. Furthermore you’ll contribute to the study success and wellbeing of the future generations of UM students.
You’re preparing yourself for the future. And to do that, you need time and space in a safe environment that feels good and is a match for you. A space where talents are discovered and competencies are developed. Learning means growing and we grow with you. We, at Eromesmarko, make space so you can learn and grow. So that, together with others, you can explore the world of work and make it your own. We have over 100 years of experience in education, including office furnishings for your dedicated lecturers and their colleagues. From design to production. Designed with simplicity and made sustainably in the Netherlands.
University Library (UL)
The UL is a partner in research and education at Maastricht University (UM) and supports knowledge development and dissemination within the UM community.
The main target groups of the UB are researchers, lecturers, and students of the UM (with the focus on students for this project). The University Library is responsible for acquiring and making accessible scientific information sources (to a large extent digital) (journals, e-books, data files, DVDs, streaming videos), the digital and physical learning environment of UM, information skills training and e-learning advice, research data management (RDM), and other research support.
An important part of the library consists of creating learning spaces. These spaces are an important part of the face of the UM.
